What is the hazing policy?

All Panhellenic organizations in accordance with both National Panhellenic Bylaws and individual organization rules have a zero tolerance policy against hazing. Our community fully believes that hazing in no way accomplishes or supports the true goals and purpose of sorority life. These rules are overseen by both the Panhellenic Judicial Board and individual organizations’ standards.

What is the “period of silence”?

The period of silence is the period of time where sisters cannot communicate with Potential New Members. The period of silence will begin at the close of recruitment registration at 11:59 PM on Sunday, January 14th and last through the end of bid day.

Am I guaranteed to receive a bid if I go through Formal Recruitment?

Panhellenic can not make guarantees that every PNM will receive a bid. However, the recruitment team and the Panhellenic community puts in a lot of time and effort to help everyone find their home!

How much does recruitment cost and where does my money go?

Recruitment registration does have a fee. We have different prices depending on the time of sign up, with the regular fee being $35. This money goes towards the expenses of recruitment weekend and support for the recruitment staff. Every registered PNM will get a tote bag and t-shirt designed by the recruitment team to “run home” in, after accepting their respective bid.

What are the financial obligations that come with being in a sorority and what do they go towards?

Dues are contingent on the organization, with new member dues ranging from $701-$1073.06. It is important to note that this range reflects new member dues, which are the dues paid in your first semester of membership. Dues will slightly decrease after your first semester of membership.

What is Continuous Open Bidding?

COB stands for Continuous Open Bidding. It is an informal process that allows chapters to extend bids to eligible Potential New Members throughout the semester and occurs in the Fall semester and following Bid Day of Formal Recruitment in the Spring semester. It is an opportunity for chapters to reach “total,” which is the allowable chapter size determined by Panhellenic each semester. Not all chapters will be eligible to participate in the COB process, however, each chapter will still be allowed to talk with Potential New Members.
