What to Wear for Sorority Recruitment

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

As you get ready for Formal Recruitment, the question of “What to wear?” might be running through your mind. It’s important to remember to stay true to yourself and wear what you feel most confident and comfortable in. This blog post will take you through what to wear during each round of recruitment and give you some outfit inspiration for each one!

Day 1: Philanthropy Round

During Philanthropy round, you will visit each chapter for 20 minutes to get to know them and the Philanthropy they contribute to. The attire for this round is more casual. You will wear your purple Passport to Panhellenic shirt that you will receive at Recruitment Kickoff. Feel free to style this however you’d like with jeans, cute pants, a skirt, or whatever you feel most comfortable in! Chapter members will be wearing jeans, philanthropy shirts, and sneakers.

Day 2: Sisterhood Round

During Sisterhood Round, you will have the opportunity to visit up to five chapters, spending 40 minutes at each one. This round is designed to provide insight into the distinctive sisterhood and values embraced by each chapter! Sisterhood Round calls for a blend of casual and dressy clothing, and should be something both comfortable for walking and sitting! Ideal outfit options include a nice blouse paired with pants, a skirt, or dress complemented by flats, heels, or sandals. Think of it like a brunch date with your friends! You can expect chapters to be wearing blouses, skirts, or dresses, and a variety of footwear options, ranging from flats to heels.

Day 3: Preference Round

During Preference Round, you will visit up to two chapters that you mutually connected with most for 60 minutes each. Preference Round gives one last opportunity to get to know the chapters on a deeper level, find where you feel most comfortable, and ask questions that will help you make your final decisions! The preference round typically calls for a more formal and polished look compared to Philanthropy and Sisterhood: Dress up for this round! It's a time to showcase your personal style while also adhering to a slightly more elevated dress code. You can wear a dress, romper, skirt or pantsuit that is comfortable enough to sit and talk in, paired with flats, heels, or sandals. Chapters will be wearing dresses or jumpsuits with either flats or heels!

Bid Day!

Bid-Day is the grand finale of recruitment where you finally get to “run home” to your new best friends! Running home marks the beginning of lifelong friendships and so much personal growth. The energy is so contagious during this time as your new home is just as excited as you are! After running home, you’ll get to go to a small Bid-Day party with your new chapter where you’ll get to meet all the sisters and celebrate your arrival into the sisterhood! For running home, you will wear your purple Passport to Panhellenic shirt that you received on Recruitment Kickoff and bottoms of your choice! We recommend something comfortable to run in like jeans, leggings, or leather pants and sneakers!

What Not to Wear

When thinking about what not to wear for Formal Recruitment, it is important to not wear anything that is too tight, too short, or too revealing. Stay away from bodycon dresses, revealing slits, cutouts, and crop tops or any apparel that is too short in length.
